Biography
Carlo Azeglio Ciampi (* December 9, 1920 in Livorno; † September 16, 2016 in Rome) was a president of Italy from 1999 to 2006. He was 95 years old. He was married to Franca Pilla. His education included Convitto Nazionale Cicognini, University of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore. Classe di Lettere e Filosofia. He received 8 awards, including Charlemagne Prize, Order of the Rising Sun, 1st class. His cause of death was pneumonia. He was buried at Cimitero della Misericordia.
