Biography
Israel Gelfand (* August 20, 1913 in Okny; † October 5, 2009 in New Brunswick) was a soviet-American mathematician. He was 96 years old. He studied at Lomonosov Moscow State University. He received 4 awards, including doctor honoris causa from the Pierre and Marie Curie University, Wolf Prize in Mathematics. He was buried at Floral Park Cemetery.
