Nasr Abu Zayd (* October 7, 1943 in Tanta; † July 5, 2010 in Cairo) was an egyptian Quranic thinker, author, and academic. He was 66 years old. His education included Cairo University, Leiden University and University of Pennsylvania. His faith was Islam. His awards include Ibn Rushd Prize for Freedom of Thought and Four Freedoms Award – Freedom of Worship.
