Władysław Szpilman (* December 5, 1911 in Sosnowiec; † July 6, 2000 in Warsaw) was a (1911-2000) Polish pianist, composer, Holocaust survivor. He was 88 years old. He was married to Halina Szpilman. His education included Chopin University of Music and Academy of Arts, Berlin. He received 4 awards, including Commander with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta, Gold Cross of Merit‎. He was buried at Powązki Military Cemetery.
